Welcome to the
Intermetallics Conference 2025
Welcome note
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is meanwhile a pleasant tradition to invite you to our upcoming Intermetallics 2025 Conference. It will be the seventh meeting in this successfully established series of conferences, which this time is scheduled from 29th September until 2nd October 2025.
Intermetallic phases (intermetallics) show a beneficial combination of high strength, low density, and good corrosion resistance. Thus, they are specifically suited for applications at high temperatures and in severe environments. Additionally, unique physical properties of some intermetallic phases are of interest for various functional applications.
The conference scheme will focus on materials based on intermetallics and their applications. Discussions on the improvement of intermetallics for structural applications will cover topics such as: strength and ductility, fatigue, wear, high-temperature creep, and high-temperature corrosion. Under the topic intermetallics for functional applications we invite contributions on: hydrogen storage, magnetic properties, electric conductivity, catalytic activity, and coatings. The discussion of using intermetallics for structural and functional applications will also cover the important aspects of processing and sustainability, and modelling of intermetallics (CALPHAD, machine learning, first-principles and data-driven approaches). Further intermetallics-related topics of this conference are: thermodynamic stability and kinetics of transformations, intermetallics as strengthening phases, high entropy alloys, and any kind of compositionally complex alloys.
The local organisers welcome Andre Schneider from Thermo-Calc Software AB in their team while the choice of members of the international advisory board remains virtually unchanged compared to previous conferences, thus providing not only representation of all relevant topics but also a good balance between research and application. Following the successful tradition of the last Intermetallics conference, the Intermetallics 2025 will be held as a single-session conference. A high-profile poster session will be rounding off the conference. Furthermore, after the last fruitful educational seminar, an “Introduction to dislocation structures in intermetallic compounds” which is specifically devoted to young researchers up to the PhD level will precede the conference.
The conference will again take place at the Educational Center Kloster Banz near Bamberg, Germany. The cloister is situated in a remote place above the valley of the river Main. As a well-known educational centre, it is an ideal place for conferences with its good infrastructure and relaxing atmosphere. In addition, being situated in the central part of Germany, it is easily accessible from Nuremberg, Munich and Frankfurt airports.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at Kloster Banz,
Your Intermetallics 2025 Conference Team
